A long journey to make after a 3-1 defeat, but the scoreline doesnt really tell the full story as plenty of encouraging signs could be taken from a good performance. First half was fairly even, both teams playing some good football and it was whitchurch who took the lead through a deep cross headed back into by their winger for the on rushing midfielder to slot home, 1-0. The rest of the half saw us take the game to whitchurch, and we pressed well into their half making some decent chances, but didnt make them count, making the half time score 1-0. Second half, and we started brightly, cairnsy finally got his reward that his hard work deserved, pouncing on a loose ball in the box to fire home, 1-1. Stupid goals have been our downfall this season, and unfortunately this cost us again. With us taking the upper hand in the game, Whitchurch got a corner which was deep into the box, fell to an unmarked defeneder to head into the net from about 4 yards.....poor marking. The third came shortly after, and was again a stupid goal to concede. A poorly hit free kick bobbled its way past 2 defenders, beforefaulky managed to slot into his own net via his left back.....its very rare that the left foot is that accurate! The rest of the half was pretty end to end, and we were unlucky not to get a goal back, with some neat football played throughout. A result that we feel a little ahrd done to, especially with 7 players still out injured, and bridgey (who was superb most of the game) filling in at centre half. Cairnsy ran his balls off for 80 minutes, and there wasnt really a bad performance throughout the team. Nice International break for the 1st team this weekend, next fixture on 9th April.
