Poynton (1sts) and Congleton Town Reserves shared the points in a 3-3 thriller. Congleton had a very strong side and played very well with Carl McCurrie being a constant threat. Poynton took the lead through Paul Garvey finishing off Rick Tindall's work with a powerful strike. Cong levelled the scores with a good finish from Jordan Erdmann before taking the lead half way though the second half through Josh Hadley. Sam Davidson scored a well worked corner to bring Poynton back on level terms but within a minute McCurrie had found the net to put Congleton back in front. With ten minutes remaining Davidson scored a brilliant free kick from 30 yards to make it 3-3. Poynton pushed on for the winner but Congleton's resolute defending earned them a hard fought point to finish a very entertaining game.
Rylands beat Poynton Reserves 2-1 at home, despite the away side taking a 1-0 lead into the break. Rylands' Andy Dove had the first effort of an entertaining game when his 20 yard shot was well held by the Poynton keeper Tom Nixon. Poynton took the lead after 11 minutes following a neat pass from Duncan Warrander through to Tommy Watson who advanced unopposed and he made no mistake with a low shot into the bottom corner. Within a minute Poynton's Kyle Woodward hit the post and Watson saw his effort pushed onto the crossbar by Naughton in the Rylands' goal as Poynton continued to dictate. Rylands' Walker, Saunders and Watson combined for Walker to hit one just wide and on the half hour Kurt Emery should have equalised when through on goal but he took it to close to Nixon who saved with his feet. The 40th minute saw Poynton reduced to ten men when Paul O'Grady was dismissed for "violent conduct". Having the extra man helped Rylands to dominate with Saunders and Emery both going close. On the hour Saunders had a goal ruled out for offside but ten minutes later Rylands were level. Walker's corner was headed across goal by McClory and debutant Dave Morley hit a low shot on the turn into the bottom corner. Rylands continued to press and were awarded a penalty when Matt Ellis was adjuged to push Emery in the back. The Rylands striker picked himself up to send the Poynton 'keeper the wrong way. Poynton threw everything forward for an equaliser and only a fine fingertip save from emergency keeper Pat Naughton saw the home side gain all three points.
