The Reserve team welcomed Pilkington Reserves to PFC with the visitors two places above them. The game started evenly with both sides struggling to settle. Poynton were the first team to click into gear and really took the game to the away side, causing them all sorts of problems. After been frustrated for the majority of the first half Tommy Watson seized on a short back pass, calmly took the ball past the keeper and slotted home from a tight angle. The Second half started in the same manner of which the first half had finished with Poynton pushing high up the field. Pilkington causing problems with long throws and counter attacks. Poynton needed the second goal in order to settle them down, thankfully that came when Josh Stafford scored a good header at the far post. With Poynton starting to relax they soon found the third goal. Simon Rhodes refused to give up on a through ball and contested a 50/50 with the goalkeeper. The ball bounced favourably to Si who turned and shot well to find the corner of the net. Pilkington refused to accept defeat and got one back within a couple of minutes of the restart. The reserves then put the game to bed when Lee Quinlan remained calm in a one and one situation to slot the ball past the goalkeeper. A good win for the reserves who move above the opposition into 8th place, and will look to build on the result next Saturday when they welcome Garswood United.

Vets followed up their opening day 6-1 win with another good performance at home to Grappenhall. Poynton were on top from the start with chances falling to Andy Peart and Mike Siddall. It was Dave Williams who eventually gave Poynton the lead following a good move from the right by Chris Wheeler and Peart. Poynton started the 2nd half as strong as they started the first and doubled the lead when Williams cracked in a half volley from 30 yards. Andy Graham rattled the upright with a header from a corner and Siddall could not believe he didn't score following a left wing run and cross from Williams. The game was wrapped up with a beauty of a finish into the top corner from 30 yards by Matt Roberts.
