Egerton Fc 2-4 Poynton FC
Poynton travelled to Cheshire league new boys Egerton FC hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the season and collect an all-important 3 points.
The Knutsford based team boast a brilliant set up with a great facility’s to compliment one of the best playing surfaces in the two divisions. Poynton a team who like to get the ball down and move it quickly looked to take full advantage of this. The away side made a disrupted start when forward Makin was subbed after 10 mins after a recurrence of a hamstring injury. This forced the manager in too a tactical shuffle with Paul Derrick coming in to midfield and Paul Garvey pushing on up front.
It wasn’t long till the new strike partnership bore fruit when Garvey slid TINDALL in down the side, with a tight angle and plenty to do Poyntons number 10 buried the finish across the keeper and in to the bottom corner. 0-1 However rather than push on, Poynton seemed to lose their way and allowed Egerton to come back in to the game. When given time the home side can pass the ball as well as anyone and after a few long range efforts eventually brought things level when a cross from the right found the home sides left winger who made no mistake from 5 yards out. 1-1
Nevertheless it wasn’t long before Poynton regained the lead again Tindall was laid in down the right and he crossed for CRANK who was steaming in to meet the ball on the slide. 1-2
Poynton seemed to have found there rhythm & well and truly knocked Egerton out of there’s. Bailey and Garvey played one two with Bailey hitting a cross come shot in to the path of TINDALL who rolled home. 1-3
It wasn’t long till Garvey got himself the goal his play deserved. More good work from the man of the match Tindall beating two men until releasing GARVEY who finished coolly one on one with the keeper, to claim his first of the season. 1-4
Half Time Egerton 1 – 4 Poynton
The second half was a strange affair with Poynton seemingly cruising handed the initiative back to the young talented home team while always looking comfortable. Egerton did get the goal their second half efforts deserved when the ball ricocheted to the number 9 who finished smartly in the top corner.
FULL TIME EGERTON 2 – 4 POYNTON FC (R. Tindall 15, 40, A. Crank 25, P. Garvey 30)
A good win for Poynton as the red & blacks claimed another 3 points as they game by game attempt to get back at the teams above them who they have a number of games in hand on.
